veteran friendly business commerce

The GreenZone Hero Movement

"Veterans and their families need our support and so do the businesses who honor them as well. Enlisting your business as a GreenZone Hero is the right thing to do." — Mark Stough, BNI SW Florida Executive Director.

The worlds leading referral organization, BNI, has joined forces with GreenZone Hero to honor veterans and veteran-friendly businesses. BNI SW Florida, a veteran-friendly business is working with GreenZone Hero to create a collaboration and outreach to recognize businesses that honor our Veterans and help those businesses succeed.

The total population of Veterans in Central and Southwest Florida is 525,000. And, the total population of Veterans in Florida is 1,640,900. This is the third largest population of Veterans in the nation.

GreenZone Hero recognizes businesses that honor Veterans in the following ways: if a business is owned or managed by a Veteran, offers special Veteran discounts, a business that hires Veterans or disabled Veterans, and if a business makes donations of time, money, or other resources to organizations that serve Veterans.

“BNI Southwest Florida is proud to partner with GreenZone Hero. I feel so indebted to our Veterans who've put their lives on the line to secure our American freedoms. The Veterans and their families need our support and so do the businesses who honor them as well. Enlisting your business as a GreenZone Hero is the right thing to do," said Mark Stough, BNI SW Florida Executive Director.

The collaboration supports the philosophy of BNI built upon the idea of “Givers Gain.” For BNI members who join GreenZone Hero, a set dollar amount of membership will help fund one of the non-profit GreenZone Hero Ambassadors, the Lone Survivor Foundation, established by Marcus Luttrell.

GreenZone Hero recently launched a "Best Practices" Operational Manual for all joining members. This value-added service includes statistics, tips, and action plans for businesses to represent themselves as Veteran-Friendly. In addition, the GreenZone Hero platform utilizes cutting-edge SEO performance tools and recently launched a Community Outreach Program providing access to “Heroes of Valor” films from Strong Eagle Media for movie screenings.

John Krotec, a veteran himself, said, “My wife Ann and I were small business owners for twenty-three years so partnering with BNI of Southwest Florida is one of the greatest feelings in the world. BNI represents the backbone of America-the small business owners that employ over 80% of the workers in the U.S. Without them, the American economy doesn't exist."
